October 20, 2017 — The 2017 Morgan Grand National & World Championship Horse Show is safely in the history books, and we have wonderful memories to reflect on while the snow piles up here in the beautiful Vermont hills this winter. Although weather interfered with our flights, we were able to watch via the livestream provided by the show. Next year, we will be back in person!

Newmont Morgans were well represented this year by top trainers from the midwest to the east coast. We personally sent two of our horses to the show, the wonderful yearling filly NEWMONT’S TIMELESS JOY (Treble’s Timepiece x FMB Peaches ‘N Cream), who was fresh off her win in the Maine Morgan Breeders Sweepstakes and brought home the Reserve World Champion Futurity Yearling Filly honors, as well as the Grand National Reserve Champion Yearling Filly. We are so appreciative to Mike Carpenter and Stephen Longo for taking such great care of this special filly from Massachusetts all the way to Oklahoma City and back. They did a wonderful job presenting her and we enjoyed watching her show. This very special filly is available for purchase! If you’re looking for a super prospect for the 2018 performance classes, give us a call.

We were also excited for the opportunity to do a short-term lease on our lovely NEWMONT’S PRETTY PLEASE (SpiceOLife Present Tense GCH x Boxford Magdelina) from owner Daniel Schrock. Under the guidance of Kurt Hufferd and Kelly Kraegel at Cottonwood Creek Ranch in Guthrie, OK, this talented young mare earned the Reserve World Champion Two Year Old Park Harness title, as well as the Grand National Two Year Old Park Harness Championship.

The flashy and versatile NEWMONT’S MISS MONEYPENNY (Minion Millennium x Aljaks Miss Wham I Am), owned by David Harding and under the direction of John & Belle Hufferd at Triumph Stables, was a star each time she entered the ring at Oklahoma! Under saddle with Olivia Lahr in the irons, this blonde bombshell was the Reserve World Champion Classic Pleasure Saddle Junior Horse and the Grand National Champion Four Year Old Classic Pleasure Saddle horse. With Olivia’s mother, Diana Lahr Harding, on the lines, she was the Reserve Grand National Champion Four Year Old Classic Pleasure Driving horse.

And finally, Bert Earehart presented the lovely NEWMONT’S MISS ANTOINETTE (Graycliff Tony GCH x RKB Sizzle) to Top Three honors in the Grand National English Pleasure Three Year Old Mare class for Red River Valley Enterprises LLC. We expect this lovely young mare to mature this winter and become a serious contender in 2018.
